JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY DEPartment OF STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

GRAPHIC DESIGNER & RESOURCE ROOM MANAGER

J-WHO? J-WOO! ROLL WILDCATS!

When not creating design for classes, a startup clothing company, or various other freelance projects, I could usually be found at my Student Assistant job on-campus. From Fall of 2020 to the Summer of 2022, I worked as a Graphic Designer and Resource Room Manager for Johnson and Wales University.

In this position, I assisted in providing the Student Engagement Department, and Johnson & Wales student clubs and organizations with technical support in all aspects of design and marketing.

I was responsible for creating advertising, posters, and marketing campaigns for designated programs & events sponsored by Student Engagement. Other duties included; creating event and program slides for the campus video kiosk system, web design and development for Student Engagement forms, providing support to major University events, and spearheading the production of the annual student and staff Year in Review digital photobook.

“So, it’s great you did all that cool work at your job Noah, but what did your boss have to say about you as a Designer and a Student Employee Representative of the University?”

Glad you asked! Here is what she had to say:

“I have had the pleasure of supervising Noah Fye here at Johnson & Wales University, Providence Office of Student Engagement. When Noah first started this position in 2020, we were in the midst of pivoting on project after project due to the unforeseen circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Noah was an eager and quick learner from his first day, and continued to impress me on my last.

For the better part of his first year, all of Noah's meetings and assignments were done virtually. I can vividly remember the first few days back in the office when pro-staff finally got to meet Noah. All had nothing but thanks and praise for his guidance on various design projects that were new to us in a completely digital world.

Noah has had many opportunities to expand his design portfolio. He developed an all new digital Photobook, in lieu of our low-demand printed Yearbook. Noah has also led the creation and implementation of all of our Weeks of Welcome advertising. This is comprised of roughly 40 events that take place over the first few weeks on campus. Noah's impeccable organization and time management skills shine through on campus in the various print and digital advertising campaigns that he develops with the help of his peers in the Resource Room.

As a student leader, Noah also has taken on the responsibility of onboarding and training any new member of the Resource Room team. He developed a thorough training manual for any new hires and always makes himself available to answer any questions. Noah is a positive and charismatic member of our team, helping out at events when needed and overall being supportive when needed.

Noah has proven to be honest, dependable and incredibly hard working. He is a valuable asset to any team, and the only negative thing I could say is that I truly wish we had more time to work together.”
